Barefoot Confessor interview

Thanks for catching up with us guys. So what and who are your musical influences?
More than a pleasure.
We all have different influences really, each of us has always listened to different music. We listen to a lot of old soul music, Sam Cooke, Roy Orbison, Drifters etc,and being 80s generation kids, the music of that time has had a big influence on us also. Other stuff like The Smiths, The Beatles and the Clash are also knocking around there in there as well. They don't make music like they used to!

What's behind the name 'Barefoot Confessor'?
We wish there was an interesting story behind it to tell you but I'm afraid there isn't. It's a twist on an old film called the Barefoot Contessa.

Most memorable gig to date?
I guess the best ones are the ones in front of big crowds, at big venues and where you're really engaging with the crowd. We played one recently at the O2 Academy in Islington London which was just that. It's just great when the crowds react to your songs and your performance, you come off buzzing, on a real high. When you speak to the crowd after you get a lot of great feedback and it gets you excited about the next gig.

Your tune 'Camden Road' is a personal favorite, the lyrics are pretty spot on. Who wrote them and what's it about?
Michael wrote the song, it's about highlighting less desirable aspects of our society that pretty much everyone has experienced. I think it pretty much came naturally to him as he wondered around that area of London. The language used can be heard from pretty much every kid old enough to talk who's living in London.

Which one of you is the biggest hit with ladies?
Judging on last night's gig we'd have to say Erol but i think we all get our fair share - there's definitely something for everyone in Barefoot Confessor!

If you could support any act at any concert or gig, who would it be and where?
So many bands, so many venues... that's a difficult one. The much rumoured Smiths reunion gig at the newly refurbished Salford Lads Club would be nice, but i'll be surprised if that ever happens. We can keep dreaming!
