Glastonbury 09: Jonelle's review

An amazing Glastonbury trip! Despite forecasts of 3 days of constant rain; the weather was incredible, the bands were awesome and there was so much to do and see I was entertained for every single second! Even though I have been to Glastonbury before, I was still just as amazed as I was the first time at the actual size of the place, its HUGE!

Arriving late on Thursday night, the wellies were unpacked and a trip to the Brother’s cider stall was first in our minds; no Glastonbury trip would be complete without a pint of strawberry cider! Before the main three days began, a chilled out night was spent at the stone circle watching people setting lanterns off, a definite must for anyone heading to the festival next year!

Friday was entertaining, exploring the festival and not forgetting meeting a group of guys on a stag do, who by 2.00pm were already having a great time and after a session of mud wrestling each of them ended up completely covered in mud (No surprises we made a rather swift exit at this point!). The cabaret section of the festival did not fail to amuse and a trip to trash city was fascinating and well worth it. Lady Gaga was awesome and then the day ended watching Bloc Party on the Other Stage followed by a particularly late one down at Shangri-La. The long 5am walk home without a doubt being one of the most amusing ever!

Saturday morning was a little bit painful, however after a smoothie the world seemed like a better place and I finally got to see the person I was most excited to see, JASON MRAZ! He did not disappoint and I definitely hope to see him perform again in the future! Filming for Jack Wills Unsigned meant that I got to interview a band called Hockey; the guys were really good and I definitely think they will huge this time next year. They were also very cool and very funny to talk to! We decided to have a slightly tamer one after the previous night’s antics and after watching the legendary Bruce Springsteen perform, we headed back for some much needed sleep.

Some of the costumes have to be seen to be believed and yet Glastonbury would not be the same without the quirky input from its thousands of attendees and I will definitely be heading back next year in the hope to have just as much fun! I can’t wait to see the line-up and fingers crossed the weather will be just as perfect!
