Glastonbury 09: Claire's review
Despite the erratic weather and the fact that Glastonbury was not entirely the mud-haven we usually adore, it was immense! Never have I seen a Festival site so huge and free, yet so together and welcoming at the same time.
The array of acts on offer was more than I could hope for and knew without a doubt that I wouldn’t get round everything and everyone I wanted to. Yet, there are some incredibly memorable moments.
Watching Bloc Party for my eighth time but still not being disappointed. Sweating like crazy to Pendulum, and cringing with everyone else at Lady Gaga’s incessant costume changes. Sitting directly in front of Ed Byrne and the other surprising comedy acts I wandered in on. Queuing for 4 and a half hours for a shuttle bus from Castle Cary station before the fun even begun. Being painted blue. N.E.R.D’s controversial set. The amazing Trash City and Shangri-La and it’s sardine-like convoys. The moment when we all realised that it actually wasn’t a joke about Michael Jackson’s death…
The exhaustion on everyone’s hungover faces as the festival drew to a close but with the hidden excitement that there was still so much to do, was so wonderful to witness.
Hopefully my white bits won’t last as long as the memories will, but Glastonbury 2010? Hell yeah.
