Sleepercurve - 'Robots'
It's always tough to gauge a band based on hearing one track. Is it their one hit single when the rest of their tracks are dross? Is it a benchmark standard and the full album will be amazing? Impossible to know, so I can only judge Sleepercurve's new track 'Robots' on its own merits. What that boils down to is roughly four minutes of radio-friendly, electro pop rock reminiscent of elements of A-Ha's crooning and Calvin Harris' disco beats. The result is gloriously non-cerebral and perfectly designed to get the modern lover of the new 80s revival up on the dancefloor.
Overall: A male contender to La Roux, but without the sullen, slap-friendly redhead.
