The Auteur - 'Nightcap' EP
I had never heard of The Auteur before reviewing their ‘Nightcap EP’, but to be fairly honest I am so glad that I got a chance to review this amazing band. They are a band who found their sound, a band that is in some ways similar to others and yet very unique. Some may say that they are a typical British pop-punk band, but I would disagree. They have that special something about them, and that is what attracts the listeners.
The first song from ‘Nightcap EP’ is called ‘Nice Hair, Nice Face’. It starts off with very original and unusual electronics which then leads into affective chord progression. Alex Rumble’s vocals make this song very special, the chorus just makes you want to dance. It is definitely a great choice to start an EP with.
‘Hey watch this...’ is another memorable song, with a real buzz to it and catchy lyrics. It will defiantly make you sing-a-long and move your feet. All songs seem to be at the same very high level of liveliness. Each song seem to get better every time you listen to it, it catches your breath from the start of the song and holds it deeply till the end.
‘Hopscotch’ is the most melodic song, and so far it is my favourite from the ‘Nightcap EP’. Each of the songs could easily become ‘a song of the summer 2009’, as they all fall in to the summer vibe.
