The Ettes - 'Danger Is' EP
The Ettes – ‘Danger Is’ EP
Female fronted grace and finesse from the city of fallen angels.
Try to imagine Yeah YeahYeahs if were around in the 80’s. And, more importantly, if they were fronted by Blondie. Then you wouldn’t be too far off from the unfamiliar sound of The Ettes.
This may be a humble EP but it is just as impressive an effort as a full length debut. The Ettes play intelligent, challenging art-rock with groove and attitude which thinks way outside the box. The bluesy guitar is jumpy and alive, although, at times, lacking some variation.
Mixing songs of studio perfection and live excellence, The Ettes prove themselves an exiting, young and imaginative band. Tracks like “The Rules” scream rhythmic blues and progressive post-punk, while demonstrating their true quality as live performers.
The Ettes are a band who are not afraid of branching out and smashing all boundaries and this is extremely clear in their music, especially in the sense of lyrics and style. So look out for The Ettes in 2009, because it looks like they could be going somewhere with this.
